080187; Postdoctoral Associate, Immunologist

Position Description

The Nutritional Immunology & Molecular Nutrition Laboratory at VBI investigates the mechanisms of immune modulation by novel phytochemicals and fatty acids. The Postdoctoral Associate will work as a part of a group of scientists and researchers involved in identifying novel, naturally occurring agonists of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma that modulate the activity of macrophages and regulatory T cells. In doing so, will be responsible for conducting experiments aimed at identifying the molecular targets and dissecting the mechanisms of action of such compounds.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. in immunology, cell and molecular biology or related field; training in immunology; demonstrated expertise in flow cytometry and cell culture assays; demonstrated record of publication in high impact journals peer-reviewed journals; excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills; capable of working in a team environment and a strong inclination for trans-disciplinary science; and possesses creativity, independence, and self-motivation with good communication skills. Preferences will be given to candidates having knowledge or experience in inflammation, autoimmune disorders and/or nuclear receptor biology; expertise in both basic and clinical immunology research, or grant writing experience.

 

UG01JB08; Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant

Position Description

The successful candidate will assist researchers in daily laboratory tasks such as media preparation, autoclaving, DNA extraction, western blots, immunohistochemistry, provide experimental diets to C57BL6J mice of the PI, assist in tissue collection and generating literature databases. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to maintain an efficiently run laboratory.

Qualifications

Undergraduate student working towards a Microbiology or Immunology degree, or a BS in Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science, or related field.
